On Tuesday, 28th December, we went to London for the day. It’s common knowledge London looks really fantastic between Christmas and New Year’s Day. On the train I met a Frenchman, Mr Dupont, who said he visited Great Britain every year. Luckily, he could speak English. He knew a lot about British history. He reminded me that Admiral de Ruyter sailed up the river Thames from the North Sea to attack the English at Chatham. That was during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. We got off at
Waterloo Station. Before we said goodbye he advised us to go to the Museum of Modern Art. We were not keen on modern art but we didn’t tell him.
