5208 Spring '95: Lagune Studio, Rijkevorsel (B): "Egotrip"

Stips - CD (Dureco 11 62362, Sept. '96)

1 She Was Naked 2 No More Cricket 3 Think It Over 4 The Age Of Vegetarius 5 Smash The Mirror (S, A. Link) 6 A Girl Named You 7 Memories Are New III

8 Dance Your Dance (S, RvEck) 9 Springtime Coming Soon 10 Memories Are New I 11 Radio (Supersister) 12 Corporating Combo Boys 13 Pop 25 (Remaining compositions: S=RJS)

Notes: Original versions: 5006/5056/063/New (written in 1969)/5055/5010/067/New (written in 1973)/045/ 5007/5014/5007/New

Song 10 on orig. LP with credits (RvEck, S). It's a song with three different parts. Maybe this is a part written by RJS. Song 11 with (S, RvE) on CD.

Song 1 is in fact "She Was Naked/Dona nobis pacem". Part 2 not mentioned

on any Supersister releases.

Song 8 is similar to Bagoas from the Iskander sessions, but the lyrics have nothing to do with the Iskander story.

RJS: voc, keyb, prod (with J. Sonneveld); MB: bg, voc; Roy Bakker: dr, perc, voc; and George Kooymans: g (4, 12).

Notes: Not released in early '96. RJS wanted to be a full Nits member till the last concert. (But somebody told me that RJS couldn't find a record company in 1995!)

Lagune Studio is the former Ring Side Studio, both situated in GK’s house. (See Entry 5173.)
5209 Spring '95: Lagune Studio, Rijkevorsel (B): "Egotrip"

1 Dance Your Dance (S, RvE) 2 Nuts In A Shell (S) (Dureco 11 06752, Dec. '96)

Notes: B-side originally recorded for his U.P. LP. There were plans for a late 1996 release, but probably it didn't happen.

NO! In 1999, I finally got one of this very rare single.

5211 (Spring?) 1995: Lagune Studio, Rijkevorsel (B): "Sweat Love"

Golden Earring - CD (Columbia 481122 2, 1995),

- +CD (Sony/Col. 481122-2, 1999),

1 When I Was Young (E. Burdon, J. Weider, V. Briggs) 8 This Wheel's On Fire (B. Dylan, R. Danko) 10 Collage (J. Walsh, P. Cullie)

RJS: string arrangements; GE: see Entry 5051! All keyb by RG.

Notes: According to the GE site, the CD was released in 1995. Copyright on cover = 1995. So I put the first idea (= June 1996) aside.

+Burning Stuntman CD (maxi)single (1997) has nothing to do with RJS. Bombay is from CD Naked II, When I Was Young and This Wheel’s On Fire are 1996 live recordings with an orchestra. ((But, of course, the orchestral arrangement was taken over!)
5212 (Spring?) 1995: Lagune Studio, Rijkevorsel (B): "Sweat Love"

1 This Wheel's On Fire (B. Dylan, R. Danko) 2 My Little Red Book (M. David, B. Bacharach) 3 So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star (C. Hillman, R. McGuinn)/L.A. Woman (Doors) (Columbia COL 662831 2, Feb. ‘96)

RJS: string arrangement on song 1.

Notes: Songs 2 and 3 have nothing to do with RJS.

Notes: I think that I saw with May ’97 an off. rel. date, but the single (see next Entry) was released before the Gemeen Goed CD. CD with sticker “incl. de hit Leven na de dood” -> most probably the May date is in fact the single date!

5226 3. & 5.4.97: Stadsschouwburg, Groningen: "Gemeen Goed"

1 Leven na de dood (B. Dylan, FdJ) 2 Rocking Chair (FdJ, Van Dyke Parks, RJS, MB, RB) (EMI 7243 8 84422 2 0, mid May 1997).

Notes: Both songs taken from the forthcoming Gemeen Goed CD. Recorded with The Van Mobile Studio. Was a hit in July/August after extensive airplay.

Song 1: Complete version with piano intro. Cut on CD. It’s Freek’s version of Bob Dylan’s Death Is Not The End.

Song 2: Song credits taken from the CD. FdJ not mentioned on single.
5227 3. & 5.4.97: Stadsschouwburg, Groningen: "Gemeen Goed"

Song 1: Complete version with piano intro. Cut on CD. Song 2: Song credits taken from the CD. FdJ not mentioned on single. Song 3: CD out-take.

5228 8.5.97: Carré Theater, Amsterdam: "Gemeen Goed"

Notes: Cover mistakenly says recorded on 3rd & 5th April 1997.

Song 4 re-released on DVD Kijk! Dat is Freek (Roje Hel (no number), June (?) 2009).
5229 1997 (("Gemeen Goed" or "Rapsodia"))

1 Leven na de dood (B. Dylan, FdJ) 2 Leven na de dood (Karaoke versie) (B. Dylan) (EMI 243884716 2 6, 1997).

Notes: Song 1: Most probably neither a recording from the two Groningen shows nor from the Carré gig. Clearly different to the Gemeen Goed version, but similar to the Rapsodia version featuring the same two Elvis songs and some guitar by Mark Boon. Also known as Leven na de dood (Vlaamse versie). Karaoke version recorded in the studio. With HdJ’s vio instead of vocals. With the musicians of the Rapsodia band  song 1 recorded live in Sept./Oct. 1997?? Song 2: Recorded at The Van Studio, Spakenburg, with FdJ: lvoc, p; RJS: acc, arranger, mix; Norbert Sollewijn Gelke: bg; Mark Boon: g; Roy Bakker: dr; Hella de Jonge: vio. Karaoke versie also released on +5 DVD Box Oude Jaars Conference 1982-2001.
5230+ 1997 (("Gemeen Goed" or "Rapsodia"))

1 Leven na de dood (Karaoke versie) 2 Leven na de dood (Vlaamse versie) (both: BD, FdJ) (EMI 2438847482, 1997).

5231+ 1997 (("Gemeen Goed" or "Rapsodia"))

1 Heer heb melij (met de Belgen) (Radio edit) (FdJ, RvhG, RJS) 2 De

Zeeland Blues (FdJ, RJS) 3 Heer ... (Album versie) 4 Leven na de dood (BD, FdJ) (EMI 2438849402, 1997)

Notes: Two singles are existing: 1 Heer (edit) 2 Zeeland 3 Heer (album) (…?...)

1 Heer 2 Leven na de dood (…?...)

And what about the above mentioned 4 track single??

Song 1: Was a minor hit in November 1997. Recordet at The Paradiso  A rush release from the October concert to have a follow-up to the Leven na de dood single??

YouTube site: There’s an audio only sound version of Heer …Described as being a Dutch radio broadcast ((from an unknown Dutch concert.)). Without knowing the single, I think that this is an edit of the Gemeen Goed or of a Gemeen Goed tour version: Really different to the Rapsodia arrangement, but quite close to the Gemeen Goed one -> single!?! With: FdJ: voc, kazoo (?); RJS: p, org, harp (?); prob. Martin Baaker: acg; Roy Baaker: dr; Hella de Jonge: vio.
