In my opinion there's a lot that can be done about theft. Here are just a few of the things I think you could do yourself. For example, when you're visiting some tourist attraction, you should never pick just anybody from the street to take a picture of you and your friends. Why not ask a salesperson from the newspaper stand instead? It's just common sense. You all know most money gets stolen from people at ATMs at night, so you had better not use them after dark.
I think there are also things the local councils ought to do, as plenty of shopping areas have no place to put bikes with someone there to watch them. The councils should provide such places. And why don't local councils of seaside towns provide public beaches with lockers? If I were our local council, I would do something about theft of posters from bus shelters as well. At the end of an advertising campaign there are often many of such posters left. They could make it possible for people who want them to pick them up for free somewhere.
36 Example key in reply to problem A: Dear anonymous girl,
I can imagine you're really worried about your problem. I think the reason you're stealing is a disease called kleptomania. That's why I think you ought to go to a specialist with this. If I were you, I would go to a psychologist as (s)he can't discuss your problem with anyone else. If you don't want to do that, then you should tell your best friend. You could go shopping together, so she can make sure you don't steal anything. You had better not go shopping alone from now on. And why don't you send a letter to the department stores you stole from. You could apologize anonymously and include the amount of money you stole. I really hope I have given you the solution to your problem. Good luck!
Example key in reply to problem B: Dear Sk8ter,
I know you can't undo the accident, but there are several things you can do to make up for what you did afterwards. If I were you, I would tell your parents about the accident. They have insurance for this kind of thing, you know. Why not put a message in the neighbourhood paper for the owner of the car? In it you should apologize to him / her for not coming forward sooner and leave a number with which to contact you. If you don't want anyone to know about what happened then you ought to find another way to get all those thoughts out of your head. Why don't you start a diary to get rid of them? I personally think that taking responsibility is the right thing to do, though. I hope you will take my advice.
